This inquisitive grey goose camouflaged on the grey pond mud seems a perfect fit for Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Colourful Monotones 🙂 grey goose

Almost A-Z time… gulp!

A-Z-bannerNow it’s almost upon me I’m not at all sure how sensible it was of me to sign up to the April 2015 Blogging from A-Z Challenge – but it’s done now, and I guess I’ll just have to take a deep breath and get on with it. The post-a-day bit I’m not too over-concerned about, but I think I may have underestimated the time it takes to randomly visit/ read five new blogs a day while still keeping up with my usual check-ins with everyone else… Oh well, I guess only time will tell… 🙂

Sunday Stills: 100+

A bit of an unusual one here for this week’s Sunday Stills Challenge: 100+ York-gospels

I love old books and manuscripts, and this is a photopgraph I took last summer of pages (folios) from the original illuminated manuscript of the York Gospels, currently on display in the undercroft of York Minster in the City of York, England – this is an Anglo-Saxon Gospel book, made in Canterbury almost 1000 years ago. The book first came to York around 1020AD, and is still used in religious ceremonies in York Minster today – so very definitely over 100 years old! 🙂

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Weathered wood

I took these pics last summer, while walking through Regent’s Park in London – I love the way the cracks follow the natural contours of the carved wood. I’ve actually been back to Regent’s Park since, and these larger-than-life statues have all been cleaned and varnished, so are now a shiny warm orange colour – but I think I far prefer the dusty dull grey of the naturally weathered wood, so I’m glad I took them when I did!
