Weekly Photo Challenge: Minimalist II

These two images are ‘minimalist’ to me in the sense of minimal underlying interest – the way the light falls across what would otherwise be rather boring, mundane photographic subjects, creating contrast in the form of both a glow and a semi-silhouette, is what brings these shots to life.

In the first, the setting sun reflects off two polished granite gravestones, otherwise silhouetted; and in the second, the late afternoon sun catches the frozen roughened surface of the pond while the spiky foliage in the foreground appears almost in silhouette… graveyard-sunset
