Weekly Photo Challenge: Relic (Take 2)

A different kind of relic this time for the DP Weekly Photo Challenge – a relic of the past, continued through to the present day. It is still traditional here in the East End of London to use a horse-drawn hearse to carry the coffin from home to wherever the last resting place may be… I took this photograph earlier this week in the City of London Cemetery and Crematorium, Wanstead, East London.horse-drawn-hearse

    • It really is quite beautiful to see – with the horses walking so sedately, and with the carriage so high off the ground, it makes a funeral procession just that – a procession, a celebration of the person’s life as much as a mourning of their passing…
